Strip Flooring

Strip flooring is any type of flooring that uses thin strips of wood. It is great for almost any room in the house and adds a taste of style and comfort. There are lots of different types of strip flooring to choose from, but it can be difficult to install.

• Make sure that the sub floor is level and remove the base molding.
• Cut the under layment with a utility knife so it fits your flooring.
• Cut out the flooring so that it will fit the width of the room, you may need several pieces to reach across, but make sure that pieces will not have their ends meet at the same point as the pieces next to it.
• Start at one side of the room and work to the other side, laying down four pieces of wood at a time and nailing them to the under layment with a nail gun.

Installing Strip Flooring Around Doors

Before you begin laying down any strip flooring, you are going to want to put down a piece before each door first. This lets you know if the door is going to be able to clear the new flooring or not. If it does not, you will have to trim the underside of the door before adding the rest of the strip flooring.
