Swimming Pool Pump Maintenance

by DoItYourself Staff

Swimming pool pump circulates water in a pool to help keep it clean. The pump moves debris and surface scum toward the filters and allows the pool water to stay clean and fresh. A good pump will move the all of a pool’s water within 8 hours.

Check the Pump Periodically

You should check the pump periodically to determine that it is in good working order. The suction should be evident and you should be able to witness the water movement when the pump is on.

Owner’s Manual

Additional maintenance instructions should be contained in the owner’s manual and be read for the optimum operation of the pump. Any malfunction should be addressed immediately.
