The 2016 GMC DIY Challenge The 2016 GMC DIY Challenge

Every DIYer knows creativity is sometimes just as important as practical know-how. GMC put this to the test by bringing three teams together in their second DIY Challenge, partnering with Habitat for Humanity to build unique furniture for a family in need.

Last year’s winner, our very own Brad Pennington of MoCa Handcrafted, returned to host the high energy competition to see who could create the best project using items found at a Habitat for Humanity ReStore. Each team was given $500, a GMC vehicle, studio space in Los Angeles, and only two days to put together something to wow the judges. Contestants were randomly assigned a room in a home to build one piece of furniture and a complimentary décor piece and were judged based on creativity, design, and craftsmanship.

While racing against the clock, teams still found time to share some tips and tricks. Check out these videos below to get some inspiration for your next project!

Last year Team DoItYourself.com stole the show with our beautiful tiled fire pit and showed viewers how to tile like a pro and make your own outdoor lighting.
