Tips for Building a Rear Projection TV Stand

by DoItYourself Staff

A rear projection TV stand is a great way to house your rear projection TV set while creating storage for DVDs, CDs, remotes and other items. Building your own rear projection TV stand is as easy as building a table or setting up an entertainment system in your home.

Simple Approach

Take a ¾-inch piece of plywood and cover the edges of the wood with banding tape. Purchase four pieces of store-bought wooden legs from your hardware store and attach these to the plywood. It would be best to paint it so that it adds to the decorative quality of your home.

Added Utility

You can take an extra step and build little shelves on the TV stand. This adds the TV stand’s utility, and you can place items in it such as DVDs, CDs and the remote that otherwise create clutter in the room.

TV Stand as Sculpture

You can go less traditional with your style choices. Experiment with all sorts of geometric shapes and sizes. You can apply side panels and different shape cut-outs to add decoration. You can be as creative as you want to be.
