Tips for Captiva Fishing
Captiva Island fishing is a fantastic opportunity for catching all types of fish. There are a multitude of fishing guides that can be hired to guide you on full day and half day fishing charters. There are a many boat rental shops and marinas where you can dock. Or if you'd prefer, you can simply cast your line from any one of the docks or bridges in the area.

Types of Fish
The Captiva Islands are home to a variety of popular fish. These catches include: Mackerel, Flounder, Bass, Sea Trout, Shark, Snapper and Sheep Head.
Fishing License
In order to freshwater or saltwater fish on the Captiva Islands you will need a fishing license. There are, however, some exemptions. You will not need a license if you are under 16, you are a resident of Florida over sixty-five, you are a Florida resident fishing from a dock, pier or other land structure, or covered by a the license provided by a boat you are using. If you do require a fishing license, you can purchase one at any marina.
Fishing Regulations
The regulations for fishing on the Captiva Islands limit the size and number of fish you are permitted to catch and the seasons in which you can legally fish. A list of these regulations are available free wherever you purchase your license.
