Types Of Kitchen Sink Lighting

by DoItYourself Staff

The kitchen sink lighting in your kitchen can add to the overall functionality and atmosphere of the room. Many times kitchens have one single light source that covers the entire room. When you are working on counters, or under the sink, you are blocking the light and casting shadows over the work area. Adding specific kitchen sink lighting can quite literally lead you to hundreds of different options. Here are a few of the more popular types of kitchen sink lighting.

Track Lighting

By far, the easiest type of kitchen sink lighting to install, track lighting can be aimed, and situated, to shine on any area of your sink.

Under the Cabinet Light

If there is a cabinet over the sink area, under-the-cabinet light sources are another alternative. They can be either regular light bulbs, or fluorescents.

Recessed Lighting

Another popular form of lighting is recessed lighting. These canisters can be mounted under the cabinet or in a low ceiling. Recessed lighting is popular as they can be installed anywhere there is room and directed to provide task lighting.

Hanging Lights

Some kitchens have an high open space to the ceiling. A hanging pendant light is a great option for when the ceiling is too high for a direct light.
