The Universal Solvent

With all the cleaners and solvents available today it's easy to overlook the original and best one ever. It's good old H 2 O, water, the universal solvent. It's the oldest and safest solvent around and its supply is virtually unlimited.

Thoroughly saturating almost anything can often make it easier to clean or to remove.

For example, many old time flooring adhesives from years gone by defy almost every type of modern chemical solvent removers but with a little time and patience they do inevitably and eventually yield to water. To soak a specific area for an extended period of time try covering it with an old towel or blanket that is then kept thoroughly wet. It'll keep the pervasive moisture just where you want it.

Water, it's clean, non-toxic with no fumes. Water, it works on almost everything imaginable and here's the best part, it's cheap and you can drink it when you're thirsty.
