Using a Rivet Gun Safely
A rivet gun provides a way to deliver fasteners that may be required for a job beyond the capability of nails or crews. Riveted joints tend to hold up longer over time and the weld seams are extremely durable. The rivet gun is a powerful tool and should you have a job that calls for its use, you should know how to operate it properly.
Wear Protective Coverings
When using the rivet gun for the first time, observe all safety procedures. This means to always wear safety glasses or goggles and have ear protection such as earplugs available to protect your ears. The impact noise that a rivet gun can be loud and cause damage to your hearing over time. You should never hold the rivet gun near your ear or face as this could cause injury.
Using the Rivet Gun
Squeeze the trigger of the gun, which pulls the pin and causes the rivet to make contact. The pin snaps off of the rivet when the rivet has flattens. You can squeeze the trigger again if the pin fails to fall off or the rivet head does not flatten. Keep your hands and fingers away from the rivet gun at al times and especially during operation.
