Utilize Low Voltage Halogen Lighting

by DoItYourself Staff

Halogen low voltage lighting is mostly used where there is a high illumination for a specific area is needed. This lighting is more energy efficient than standard incandescent lamps, but they are not as efficient as fluorescent bulbs. With the way energy costs keep rising, homeowners are finding it hard to find an efficient enough lighting source that will give them the illumination they seek.

Halogen Lighting

A halogen lamp is an incandescent lamp type that comes in different shapes and sizes. Halogen low voltage lighting seemingly functions at higher temperatures than a regular incandescent fixture which increases the tungsten evaporation process. A more expensive gas with a higher pressure is used to counter act this process. This is what results in halogen low voltage lighting manufactured in a hard glass envelope. Keeping this in mind, the bulb does not break.

Halogen Low Voltage Lighting

A good location for halogen low voltage lighting is the living room. This is especially if it has vaulted ceilings or recessed lighting. Low voltage halogen lighting brings art to life if used on track lighting. For use over the bathroom vanity counters, low voltage halogen lighting is perfect and very popular. Most fixtures hold at least 4 or more bulbs. The home office (if one applies) is also a good place to use low voltage halogen lighting as an accent.
