Are you a woman who works late at night and feels vulnerable? You can protect yourself and maybe thwart someone who could potentially do you harm. Below are a number of safety tips to use when you’re by yourself. If you act quickly, there is a much better chance if you not being a victim of a crime, which is something that s very important. You need to help yourself and keep your wits about you.l. Make sure to walk confidently, hold your head up high, and know what and who is around you. Don’t just walk aimlessly or look as if you’re unaware of your surroundings. Showing others you know what is going on is vital to your safety.
2. Have your car keys in your hand, so you don’t have to fiddle with finding them when you’re about to open your car door. This will speed you into the car and away from danger.
3. Park in a well-lit area and try to walk with others you know. If you can ask someone you trust to walk you trust with you that’s even better. There’s always more safety in numbers.
4. When carrying bundles, try to hold them in one hand so your other hand is free should you need to protect yourself. Of course, if you have to, drop the bundles quickly, especially have it land on an assailant’s foot or into their body.
5. Place some type of identifier, such as a red rubber ball, on your car’s antenna so you can spot your car right away. You can forget where you parked and that gives the other person time to take advantage of you, which, of course, is not what you want.
6. Carry an alarm with you in your hand. If someone should approach you and you don’t feel safe, press the alarm button quickly. Hopefully the noise alone will scare him to run the other way. 7. Keep a cell phone with you and if you feel threatened call the police right away. Don’t wait to see what happens.
If you follow the above, you should feel much safer and know that you are in charge of your safety.
