Wall Mounted vs Freestanding Towel Warmer

by DoItYourself Staff

Home owners can now install wall mounted or freestanding towel warmer units in their bathrooms to have warm, comfortable towels on demand. These units will heat the towels in just minutes.

Wall Mounted

In a small bathroom, a wall mounted towel warmer will save on floor space. However, on the same note, you will have to drill holes into the wall to hold the towel warmer, which may not be an option for a renter and may be undesirable if you only plan to use the towel warmer for a short period of time. Also, wall mounted towel warmers are more likely to have exposed hot surfaces that can burn if touched. This could be a problem if the bathroom is extraordinarily small, if it is used by young children, or if you own pets.

Freestanding

A freestanding towel warmer will likely take up more space than a wall mounted unit. However, this unit could also be temporarily removed from the bathroom or stored in a sink or cabinet. It can also be shared by multiple bathrooms. Most freestanding towel warmers will sufficiently cover hot surfaces to prevent burns. Freestanding towel warmers are also more effective for warming bathrobes, gloves, mittens, scarves, or other small items.
