What are the different types of glaze to use with wooden kitchen cabinets?

by DoItYourself Staff

There are several types of glaze that can be used on wooden kitchen cabinets. Glaze can be used to give the cabinet a distressed or antique look. This is done by applying a contrasting glaze to the cabinet and then wiping the glaze away. This leaves the glaze in the corners, details, and grain of the cabinet and gives the cabinet an instantly aged effect. There are also special glazes that can create a crackled appearance, much like that of old, cracked paint. Another glazing technique involves applying a glaze in a white or nearly white color and then wiping much of it away, giving the cabinets an aged, faded look.
