What Is a Washing Machine Belt?

by DoItYourself Staff

The washing machine belt is a component that allows the washing machine to work properly. This piece of equipment is attached to the washing machine motor and to the transmission. When the motor turns, the belt transfers power so that the washing machine will work. If the belt breaks, the washing machine will not be able to function but it will still sound like it is working. You will need to get a new belt that can generally be purchased from most parts supply stores. Some washing machines also utilize a separate belt for the transmission and for the pump.
