What is the necessary wattage for bathroom vanity lighting?

by DoItYourself Staff

Bathroom vanity lighting is very important, in order to do proper grooming, and to light the bathroom area for cleaning as well as overall ambiance. The vanity lighting needs to be a minimum of 150 watts in order to produce enough light. This should be spread out with several bulbs, in order to allow enough light for shaving and other grooming. Vertical bar lighting is a good choice for this purpose, but will need to be placed no more than 72 inches above the mirror to be effective. Side bar lighting is another option, which will also use several bulbs to disperse the wattage, to meet this purpose.
