What to Coat Your Kitchen Hood With

by DoItYourself Staff

A kitchen hood plays an important role in the kitchen. It helps to maintain safety and cleanliness in the home. Odors and steam are a natural bi-product of the many activities that take place in the kitchen. A good kitchen hood eliminates bad odors from the kitchen before they seep out to other parts of the room.

Types of Kitchen Hoods

There are two types of hoods available in the market today. The first one connects to a network of ducts, which send odors from the kitchen, out of the home. The alternative, re-circulates the air in the kitchen and purifies it through a special carbon filter.

In some instances, kitchen stoves function for extended periods and can cause extreme heat to build up on the surface of the stove. This creates a fire risk in the kitchen. Kitchen hoods help to reduce the risk of fire by providing a way of escape for the excessive steam generated by the stove. Also, during the normal course of cooking, grease and steam are produced and this discolors walls in the kitchen. There is also production of bad odors and ugly stains on the kitchen walls. A good kitchen hood helps to reduce the incidence of such byproducts in the kitchen.
