What to do about a Leaking Alkaline Battery
Out of the many types of batteries available, the alkaline battery is the most prone to leakage. This leakage can damage your electronic items, as well as cause damage to your skin. If you have a leaky battery, you can easily correct the situation with some basic precautions.
Clean Your Electronics
If you've had a battery leak in to an electronic device, you should clean the battery chemicals from the device. Once the battery leaks, the chemical substance left behind will become a dry, powdery type of build up. This can be cleaned with a cotton swab, water, and lemon juice. The lemon juice is acidic, and will remove the gunk without much elbow grease.
Keep it Clean
You can protect your electronics and your batteries by following a few simple tips. You should never mix batteries up. One battery with a stronger chemical because it's newer can cause a weaker, older, battery to start leaking. If you notice a leak, you should remove the batteries carefully, (while wearing gloves) and clean the electronic item. Leaving the chemical build up in the device can cause future batteries to corrode and leak as well.
