What type of glass scratch repair kit should I get for chipped glass?

by DoItYourself Staff

The type of glass scratch repair kit you need for chipped glass depends on the size of the chip and also the type of surface. You can remove small to medium chips in wine glasses, glassware or glass panes at home by sanding out the chip with fine sandpaper. You can also use a dampened rag with a combination of white toothpaste (more abrasive than gel) and a paste made of equal parts of baking soda and water to repair chipped glass. Remember to polish off the repaired surface with jeweler’s rouge once done. For larger chips, like in a car windshield, it is best to seek help from a glazier.
