What type of glass scratch repair kit should I get for large scratches?

by DoItYourself Staff

A large glass scratch repair kit should include white toothpaste, lint free cloth for wiping, manual and electric buffing pads, jeweler’s rouge, ammonia, water, rubber gloves and safety goggles. Alternately you can also pick up a commercially packaged glass repair kit. To repair large glass scratches at home, you need to first fill in the scratch with some white toothpaste. Wipe out any excess toothpaste, and leave the groove out in the open for some time. Once the toothpaste dries up, buff the scratched area. An alternate method to this is to use an electric buffer with a soft wool buffing pad and jeweler’s rouge.
