What type of paint should I use for painting a concrete basement floor?

by DoItYourself Staff

Painting a concrete basement floor may be the answer to finishing the floor, without having a great financial outlay. Paint is inexpensive and can be mixed in any color of your choosing. Basement floor paint that is blended especially for this purpose is available at any paint store or home improvement center. This type of paint is durable and resists moisture. It dries to a tough finish, that will take a lot of wear and cleaning. Most of the paints in this category are a latex blend, but they can also be purchased in an oil base. The oil base has fumes, but when dry has a finish that will withstand a tremendous amount of usage.
