What's the difference between kitchen crown molding and scribe molding?

by DoItYourself Staff

Kitchen crown molding can add a very finished, elegant look to your kitchen cabinet installation. Scribe molding can also give a finished look to your kitchen cabinets. Kitchen crown molding is installed between the top of the upper cabinets and the ceiling. Crown molding comes in various designs, wood types and thicknesses.

Scribe molding is the molding that is installed on the sides of the kitchen cabinets, both upper and lower between the cabinets and the wall. This gives the cabinets a very finished, professional look. The molding is usually chosen to closely match the materials of the cabinets.
