Why is a cedar porch swing better than wicker?

by DoItYourself Staff

A cedar porch swing is better than a wicker porch swing for several reasons. First, it is made of a strong and long lasting wood that can remain in good shape for as long as 30 years. Cedar also contains a natural insect repellent. Cedar is heavier and can hold more weight than wicker. Another reason cedar is better is because wicker can fade if left in the sunshine and since it is lightweight, it is more likely to be damaged by wind than cedar would be. Wicker is only made of wood fibers twisted around metal, which is not as strong as a hard wood like cedar. All of these factors make a cedar porch swing a better choice than a wicker porch swing.
