Why Roof Ridge Vents Work

Roof ridge vents are designed to provide air circulation to the attic and help prevent moisture buildup on the attic interior. The need for roof ridge vents or any other type of roof vent comes from the improvement in the insulation products used in modern home construction.

Understanding Roof Ridge Vents

A roof ridge vent runs the entire length of the peak of the roof. If you have a home which has multiple roof peaks, install a roof ridge vent on each. It has an overlap of approximately 3 inches on either side of the peak, and shingles are installed over the ridge vent. This style not only allows for a good deal of airflow, but it also allows the vents to blend in with the roof more effectively.
