Whenever you paint the casing around your window or doors you have to worry about accidentally painting glass or hinges. Once it dries the paint can be very difficult to remove and can ruin your windows and doors. There are a few methods, however, that will help you paint your casing quickly.
- Step 1: Wipe off the casing with a damp rag and make sure it is dry. Place a tarp or newspaper on the floor to protect it from paint while you work.
- Step 2: Use lengths of masking or painters tape to protect unwanted surfaces from the paint. Make sure the edge of the tape is pressed down firmly so nothing can come through.
- Step 3: Use a small brush to paint the casing and let it dry.
- Step 4: Remove the tape and check to make sure there were no spots where the paint leaked through.
Cleaning Casing
Casing needs to be cleaned every few months as it collects dust. Take a soft rag with warm soapy water and run it along the casing a few times to clean it. If the dirt is deep inside the casing you can use a bristled brush to get it out.
