Keeping wine fresh

Wine coolers keep wine at a set temperature that will best preserve and allow the wine to age. In most cellars wine is kept at the optimal temperature depending on the wine kept. A wine cooler should not be confused with the beverage of the same name. Rather, this article refers to the home accessory also known as a wine cooler, which resembles a refrigerator. These wines are not to be stored in the cooler, but simply kept there periodically before serving to chill them.

What wines to keep

Only some wines are served best chilled, and that’s where the wine cooler comes in. White wines, rosés, and sparkling wines are the most appropriates wines for a wine cooler.

Cost

Wine coolers are still relatively expensive considering their purpose and utility. Most are in the $200-500 range, which is starkly contrasted to the cost of a mini-refrigerator, $60-150.
