Wiring a Sealed Beam Headlight in a Car

by DoItYourself Staff

what you'll need

  • Screwdriver

If you are planning on wiring your sealed beam headlight, it is simple to do on your own. Here are a few quick steps and materials that you will need to get the job done with ease.

Step 1 – Turn Off Car

Begin on turning the car off and then opening the hood. You may want to make sure that you allow the car to cool down before opening in case you were driving for a long period of time. Prop the hood up to get inside.

Step 2 – Gain Access

Find the tabs that are located on the side of the headlight wiring harness. This should be near the rear of it. Then, you can pull it off to gain access.

Step 3 – Remove Screws

Use the screwdriver to take off the screws. This will allow you to take off the rim of the headlight.

Step 4 – Plug in Wiring

Now you can take out the actual wiring. Make yourself familiar with the inside so that when you are putting the new wiring in, you know where to plug it. Now that you have finished wiring the light, you can use the screwdriver to put it back together and put the harness back on.
