Now the most important thing I want to point out here is the way that the windows open and close and the way that you deal with opening and closing compositions and projects. We can only have a composition window open here, we have a time line open here and yes, you have the project window open here. But let us say you want to close the composition down. You want to work on a different one. If you are in a previous version of After Effects, your most natural reaction would be to come up here into the composition window and click to close. Well, very strange things happen when you do that. You will notice that the composition window has closed. The other palettes that were stored to the side of it have now expanded to fill the gap left by removing that frame, but the time line is still there. Well maybe you will go ahead and shut the time line down as well. Well now, you have succeeded in closing down the actual composition but you have also now completely reorganized the interface because the composition panel and the time line panel exist inside the frames, remember it is the same as the construction up here, the info and the audio, they are sitting inside the frame and that panel can be closed separately to the frame. Well, do not panic, there is a couple of ways you can get around this, you could go by cover into the project window and double click "Intro Clip" to once again open up that composition, you get the composition pane back as well as the time line one. But again if you go ahead and close those by mistake, just go ahead and do that for both of them, you could also come back over to the window menu, go back to work space, and once again reset to the standard work space and that would bring you back to where you were. It is a very worth pointing that out.

The one most important thing here is the project. If you went ahead and close the project window down, you do not actually close the project, all you are doing is closing the panel exactly the same thing that you did a second ago with this two. So once again I am going to go to the window menu but just to point out once out here, you will notice that down towards the bottom of this list, you do have access to the original project window. So just in case you redefine your work space and you did not want to reset it at this point, you can simply go ahead and choose Project to do so, but the final thing I want to show you here is that if you wish to close a project or a composition, you done go ahead and just close the panel down. In the case of a composition, you can come up here to the pop out menu at the top of the composition window and simply say, "close intro clip. In this case we have only one composition open. If you had more you could close all of them at the same time. But doing that, you will notice, will close the composition and the contents of the time line but leave the windows open ready to put new panels into afterwards, and likewise with the project, you can come out to the file menu, go down and choose close project and that would shutdown the entire project but still leave the interface looking exactly as it should.
Now the most important thing I want to point out here is the way that the windows open and close and the way that you deal with opening and closing compositions and projects. We can only have a composition window open here, we have a time line open here and... click to read more
