She is happy. She is at home. And she is here to empower you. She is the Handy Goddess.

Hi there! Well, I cannot install my deck frames yet because I just put on some polyer in the other night and they still smell. And since these people are going to be sleeping in the bed, I do not really want them to smell polyurethane so I will let these air a few days. But what I do want to show you today is a little bit about earthquake preparedness since we did just have an earthquake here in Southern California.

So, let us go to the gas line and let us talk about it. You know and then yesterday after the earthquake we had in Southern California, I was with a friend and she was on the phone with a client of hers who happen to have been very hysterical because she did not know how to turnoff her gas line. Okay. Turning off your gas line is a very simple thing and I want to show you how to do it so you can feel empowered versus hysterical when an emergency like an earthquake happens around you.

Okay so let us go around there. Okay. So, here we have a gas line into the house. Now most homes actually have these things and they just sitting on the outside of the house and what I want you to do is to get yourself a wrench., just the adjustable ones easy enough and some sort of little device you can hang it with. And I want you to get it and attach it to your gas line and have it there. So, when you freak out in the middle of an emergency like an earthquake, you can actually come out here and easily turn it off because you have your tool right here. Okay. And that should do it.

What do we do is really, really quite easy. It is just right down here, you could see this is the valve to turn it on and off, okay. And right now the oblong part is inline with the pipe and that means it is on. And to turn it off, all we have to do is take our wrench, put it around like that and then simply turn the gas line off. So, now it is going the opposite way of the line of the pipe so it is off. Perfect! And then to turn it back on, you just simply do that again. Okay? So, it is real easy. Just have your wrench right next to the gas line and then you can take care of it when you have an earthquake.
