Insulating Foam Sealant By HomeAdditionPlus.com

Hi! I am Mark Donovan from HomeAdditionPlus.com and today I am showing you a neat way to insulate ram doors and windows.

When insulating a house, it is important to insulate between the window or door jams and the wall studs that frame the opening of the window. Traditionally, contractors had just pushed in insulation, batting insulation in between the door jam or window jam and the stud. But this is a tedious task it does not do a great job

A much better way to seal around doors and windows is with an insulating foam sealant such as this. It comes in a canister that you can get in any home improvement store. You basically just squirt it in. It expands, dries and you have a very tight well insulated door jam or window jam.

To install insulating foam sealant, always make sure you wear eyeglasses, safety eyeglasses, and a pair of work gloves because it is very sticky and once you get it in your fingers, it is impossible to get off and likewise you do not want to get the sticky stuff with your eyes.

To use this like foam sealant, basically you have tube that you place in between the jam and the frame and opening of the window or the door and you just basically pull the trigger and pump in some of the insulating foam material. If there is excess material that comes, not a problem. Once it has dried, you can cut it, the excess, with a utility knife to get it flashed with the wall.

So this job takes about eight minutes to get to a tacky level and about eight hours to be fully dry. Once fully dried, you can use your utility knife to trim off the excess material flashed with the walls surface. So again, if you are going to install window trim, make sure this insulation treatment with window jam or door jam and the wall stud before applying the trim and this foam insulation sealant is excellent solution for that situation.
