Hi, I'm David Epstein. This of course is Growing Wisdom. And I want to talk to you about a plant I made a mistake with. This is a great plant and I love it. It's not harty, it's an artichoke. It's not harty in my zone. Some areas in the country this would work. But the problem is I should have placed it somewhere where it could stand out and really show itself. It's next to this grass. It's near the fence. It's just not in a place where it can be the focal point of an area of the garden and that's the problem with it. I've got some plants like my castor bean. Look how huge that is. It's in a great spot; everyone walks in the backyard, they wondered what it is. Or I've got some of the elephant ears. They're in the right spot and I like them. This artichoke plant just needs to stand by itself. So next year, I'm going to move it somewhere where it can really stand alone and shine and that's what you want to do with some of these plants that you use as focal points especially the tropical varieties. Notice the color of this, it got that wonderful silvery bluish green color on and that's why I love this plant so much.
