How to Change a Home Air Filter
Video Transcript
Hi, HandymanTeacher.com here today we are going to do a little easy one but it is one that we all tend to forget about it is called changing the furnace filter. The cold air we turn on this house is right here and in the hot summer time either down here in south or up on the north. We tend to forget the change this filter and what prompted me to do this was a friend of mine call one night said my air conditioner could not work. Call back 20 minutes later and says, "Hub it was not the air conditioner it was the fact that the furnace air filter the cold air return filter was so clog it would not let any air go trough to help to change it." Now the furnace filter covers generally have couple of blocks switches like this lock it in the place and when you open it there is the furnace filter that you can see this one has a lot of clog here and you pin her eon it and there is a lot of extra fuzz on there. And the easiest way to do this is turn the air conditioner off. Because why because you have all this in you are pulling on this thing and it is hard to remove with the air-going trough it. So I am just going to close this for a second luckily the air conditioner switches are right over here and take the temperature and put it up into the 80-degree mark and as you can hear it has got a lot more quitter in here. Because the air is not running so let me go back over here now and we will make the job a little easier. Get the filter out it is very simple the cold went it comes away.
But if you take a look it is quite a big hole to cross air but it takes the air that it is in the house. Runs it through the filter and run as an down to the system constantly changing the air that is in the house in the summer time obviously to make it cold and in the winter time to make it warm. This is our new filter here now we bought the good three M listen to me three M brand hard to say it is called the filtrate and it got reinforcing on both sides or the other one does not. And the other thing that you need to remember is one get the right size and that is what we do this particular once 20 by 25 by one inch thick most 99% than one inch thick. The other thing you do when you put it in back in you look for this arrow and is says airflow this way. In another words what you do not want to do is put it this way because that it is backwards to the airflow because which way is the air coming the air is coming from the house through here. So we are going to put that back in place it just sits in place. There are no snaps or anything else it will just go in to place right and then this instance lift close and make sure you locks are secure one side and the other so it does not come out. So this is how Hub here from HandymanTeacher.com. Thanks very much for watching have a great, great day. See you later.
