Hey everybody. This week's Indy Mogul sponsored by Death Race in Theaters, August 22.
This week will going to show how to recreate the freaky climax of the Ring. You know when the dead girl crawls out on the TV? Here is how the professionals did it!
[Movie Trailer]
Now there is been a lot of discussion about this effect from the Indy Mogul forum. It was specifically requested by Nick Fiorentino, Title 1 pro, bubbabooey2, and smashingrobkins. Let us try and you write by them who create this effect for chip.

There are three main parts to this effect, the creepy make up, the special green screen, and some fancy computer work. The creepy make up is just some liquid Latex, white cream make up, and some green make up highlight.
So now I am just going to scrape my hands across the liquid Latex and it is going distress it, and it is getting like hugely and grouse. We also added some lotion to Lindsay's hair to make it looks slimy. Obviously, only the TV for this effect but the good news is you do not have to ruin it by hollowing it out. All you have to do is measure it.
Also figure it out where you will be shooting the scene and measure the height that the TV will set. Now take all this dimensions and carefully ask cut the inside dimensions of the screen into the poster board. Making sure the height is correct as well.
I made some simple stands for scrap wood and staple them to the poster board. Next, I painted the frame green, and then painted another big piece of poster board to act as a backing. There was a problem.
So when I painted the screen, it got all work (beep) and get out of this braces right here -- that did not fix it and now, I am just kind of resort -- taping it back.
When it time to shoots, set up your camera on a tripod and get a clean plate of just the TV. On the ground, use some tape to mark exactly where the screen is, then move the TV out and place your green frame in the exact same place. You may have to add some lights but then just film your actor crawling out.
The computer magic was all done in final cut and it is comprise these steps. An 8 point garbage mat for the background, chroma key to get out the green and additional layer with a luma key and a bad TV filter, some stock footage of TV static that I crop and place inside the screen, and of course a bit of messing around with the speed and the motion blur.
Woman 1: Fresh off the internets, I present to you the Dark Night
Man 1: Thank you BitTorrent!
Man 2: BitTorrent? Seriously, you can download any movie you want for free and watch it before it release in theatre?
Woman 1: Yes, and without consequences.

[Shouting from the background] Oh, my god! No!
Are you going to kill us? Oh, Sh -- (beep)
Well, could you move to the bottom of the screen so that maybe we could finish watching the movie?

All right that is it for this week and next we are going to show how to build something I always wanted to do on light saver I mean "Generic laser's sword".
Oh God George, do not sue me?!
Okay, two quick announcements. Make sure and check at our T-shirt store at MogulMart.com. Show your support and we have an awesome interview with Felicia Day and Kim Ivy from the Gil. Check it out at Indymogul.com and we will see you next week.
If you are going to use color gels, make sure no white bonds to your lights before you stick them on. Otherwise things get all wrong.
Indy Mogul brought to you by Death Race starring Jason Stephen in theatres on August 22.
