The last thing I want to show in regards to find and replace is how to find and replace empty values. For example, I have got a column call transaction count. If I scroll down this column here, you will see that I have got a couple of values here that are no. No basically means they are empty. Now, throughout my data set, there are no values here and there. What I want to do is I do not want to keep them No so what I prefer to do is fill the no's with something like NA, a term that actually means no but it did not leave the cells blank. I can do that find and replace.

The first thing I will do is I will select this particular column and then I will select find and select and then click the replace command. That brings up my familiar dialog box. Now, the question that you will ask yourself is how do you represent no and find what. Well, you simply delete all entries in the find what in the put box and leave it blank. Then, type in the term you want to replace the no's with. In this case, NA and by the way, you can go the other way too. I can find something like NA and replace it with empty cells. So, I put NA up here and I put the empty cells here meaning I will delete all entries in this particular input box and leave that no or empty.

I am going to unselect the match entire cell contents so we do not need that and select replace all. It says here that it has made 267 replacements. That sounds about right to me so I am going to say okay and I will click close. Now, you will see here that my empty cells have been replaced with NA.
