Now, speaking of the innovations, today we are going to explore a new twist on a family photo album. I know us parents will take a lot of pictures for our kids. They end up sitting in a hard drive. We might look at them, we might not. Well today, the new family photo album is where you can get professionally printed on a hard bound book. It is affordable. It is a high quality, makes a great gift, great keepsake. Today, I am going to show how to make one.
Every year, I take all the family pictures of the year, gather the picture around the computer and we pick the best stuff and we make one of this professionally printed hardbound family photo album. We are going to make one for both our grandparents and for ourselves, put it on the coffee table. Not only it is my family look through it repeatedly but our guest and visitors to our house, they look to it as well and without fail, everyone remarks how amazing the quality is of this particular book. It has his own jacket, you can do neat things like on the inside, you can print text about your family, write the history of the history or year, you can put a picture like that kid on that jacket inside. You can put three pictures on the page, you can put one picture on the page, you can put a little border around the pictures, texts as well on all the pages and you can also do what is an industry called the full bleed. You can have a picture go all the way to the edge of the pages, gets a real professional feel.
Now, to make one of these books, you use of a program called iPhoto. You heard of your iPod and you use iTunes to get music onto your iPod or iPhotos, a photo import program that makes it really easy to simply drag and drop and make one of these photo books. You can do it. iPhoto is really easy to use to make a book. I have uploaded all my pictures to the computer, put them into a folder called, "Your Birth book". I am going to make a Birth Book today and I simply click one button, make a book. Now click on that button, it asked me what kind of book. I am making a picture book as a poster calendar and up comes the book.
First I am going to do is choose my cover, put in the picture of this young baby or, and now I go to the interior of the book. You can write some things on the book jacket, you can write some introductory texts and then it is merely drag and drop. Check this out. I have a page where I have two pictures or three pictures. I got on the top, the picture I like. Let us do a little, little video fit series, drop in a picture of my kids foot, and you could see it is really, really straightforward.
Now, once you drop the pictures in, you can click on the picture, you can make a smaller or bigger, you can move it around to reframe it. It really can not get on easier than this. Actually it can because they have an auto fill button, if you are a kind of doubting your technical abilities or you are just sensibility that you can just simply click auto fill and it fills out the whole book.
Last step, you go the bottom of the screen, you click on buy book, put in your credit card then in a week, you got this great keepsake on your doorstep. iPhoto gives you other options, you can also print maybe a soft bound book, save a little bit of money. You could print a calendar and this is not just your average printed calendar at the corner.
A copy shot, this one is actually really, really sturdy. You could print a cute little flip book, maybe for the soccer team. I mean how cute is that? Put every player in that, so great end of the year gift to the whole team. Now, if you do not use iPhoto, there are other options, online options that you can use and I got links to those at episode 288 on dadlabs.com.
