How to Play an Extended E minor Pentatonic Scale using Alternate Picking
Hi, this is Andy James from licklibrary.com. In this tutorial, we are going to look at extending the pentatonic scale using alternate picking. I am just going to play the lick for you now and then we will break it down.
Okay, this select is going to be in the key of E minor and we are going to start on the 17th fret on a higher string. And we are going to play starting with the down stroke on with the right hand, 17 to 15, 12, 15 to 12 on the B. Then we are going to play it at 15, 12, 10 on high, 12, 10 on the B. Then we have got 15, 12, 10 on the B. 12, 9, on the G. And so far, in slow tempo, we have got this.
And, we are going to play 14, 12, 9 on the G. 12, 9 on the D. Then 14, 12, 9 on the D. Then we have got 12, 10 on the A. So far at slow tempo, we have got this.
Okay, so then we have got 14, 12, 10 on the A string. 12, 10 on the low A. Then we have got 10 on the A. 12 on the lower. Then slow it from 10 to 12 on the lower. Okay, so slow it should sound like this. And up to speed.
Okay, so that is it for today's tutorial. Thanks for watching, until next time. Keep strumming.
