Hi! I am here with a few tips on basic chimney repair and again I want to stress the word basic. There are two things that personally I feel comfortable with on considering with basic chimney repair. But you need to be comfortable on heights, on a roof and you also need to be comfortable working with brick and cement and or some other type of sealer.

There are a couple of things that go wrong with chimneys. The first one, they age and they cracked. It is brick. It is cement. And also, the metal flashing at the top can also tend to leak. Now, these are basic problems but yet again, not something you really want to tackle if you are not comfortable working with those particular. In the elements of being on a roof; possible wind and also working with those particular materials, it is not mixing concrete on a roof it is not something I recommend if you have never done it on the ground. I would call a professional. But if your chimney is leaking or it is starting to crumble and you need to do some emergency patching, you can do that. I would first and foremost make sure that you are in a safe place and that you are not alone. Make sure you have a buddy who is going to either foot the ladder or make sure you are okay up there working on the chimney. But you can patch concrete; you can replace brick again if you are skilled.

On a short roof like this, it is not that hard to do because as you can see from this particular chimney in this particular roof, your footing is you know pretty straight forward. But again, you have to be comfortable in the wind because most roofs, there is wind up there. But if it is not a leak and or not just basic simple brick and concrete or more other work, then you are getting out of the round of basic and you should without a doubt call a professional.
