How to Repair a Concrete Foundation Crack
Video Transcript
Hi, I am Mark Donovan from HomeAdditionPlus.com. And today, we are going to do a little concrete repair.
I am in a foundation area or cross base area of the family room edition that was put on to the main portion of the home. And while the foundation of the family room edition ties into the main foundation of the home, there is a seam here that we can actually see to the outside and is sliding in a lot of cold air. So I want to cock this with a concrete filler mix to insulate this area better than it currently is.
So the first thing that we are going to do is wipe down the area with a dry rag. Next, I am going to use a steel brush to remove any illusive debris or dust, or dirt, from the joint area. Now using an old paintbrush, I am just going to again lightly brush off any dust that could be on the seam area where we wanted to fill with the concrete filler. Now, using a standard cock gun and concrete filler, I cut a quarter inch angle opening on the end of the cartridge. Now apply a quarter inch thick of concrete filler mixture on the seam. Next, you can use a knife to tool the material in, smooth it out. And finally, we can smooth it out with a moist wet rag. So that is all. It will dry within 24 hours and if you want to paint it, you can.
