I have some tips on how to set freelance rates. It's a really tough job. So, I would suggest go slow and don't just shoot out numbers. The number one tip is, ask the client if they have a budget. There are few clients I know, especially, in larger corporations who don't have a lot of budget for a certain project or a line item. Then determine what your time is worth; how much an hour, how much a day that you would like to get. Number three, really important, find out if you have a friend or an acquaintance or a connection to somebody who actually hires people like yourself and ask them what they pay. Then use your gut, don't overprice yourself the first time and very carefully talk about taxes and terms; how you'll get paid, when you'll get paid, and what the deliverables are. Go, get that freelance job.
