How to Specify Theme Fonts and Effects in MS PowerPoint 2007
Video Transcript
Each theme has a font set known as Theme Fonts. Each font set consist of a font for headings and a font for body text. In PowerPoint, that generally translates to a font for slide titles and a font all other text.
So, just like with the colors scheme gallery, you can scroll down the theme font gallery and you can see what the various theme font sets will look like when they are applied to your presentation. If you see one that you like, you click it to apply it. If you do not see a font set that you like, you can always create your own by choosing Create New Theme Fonts at the bottom of the gallery. You can see that this theme font set has Corbel for the heading font and it also uses Corbel for the body font and that means, like I said, in PowerPoint, Corbel for a slide titles and in this case also Corbel for all other texts. I will cancel all of these.
For our theme, I am going to choose one down here at the bottom. I tend to like this fonts that with Franklin Gothic combinations. There is really no need to create new font set if one already exist that you like and is appropriate for your presentation. Something you might want to be aware of, if you are not sure what type of a computer or what version of PowerPoint or presentation will be displayed on, you want to stick with Arial or Times New Roman in your presentations. These ones are installed on all almost every PC so they should not cause display problems the way other fonts can. For example, Mac's do not recognize embedded fonts so it is especially important to choose basic fonts like Arial or Times New Roman if there is a chance your file will end up being displayed on a Mac at some point in time.
Theme Effects are shown in this gallery. You can choose any set of effects that you want. You do not have to stick with the modular effects just because you are using a variation of the modular theme. There is not an easy way to create your own theme effects though, you have to actually open the themes thmx file in an xml editor and tweak the settings by hand.
