Welcome to Dezine in a minute. Today, we are learning about what primary, secondary and tertiary colors are. This is brought to you by interiordezine.com.

There are three primary colors, red, yellow and blue. They are primary because they have the purest colors and not made by mixing any other color. Secondary colors are made by mixing two and two only of the primary colors. Red and yellow make orange, blue and yellow make green, red and blue make violet. So logically, our secondary colors are orange, green and violet. The tertiary color is still any combination of two colors but one is primary and the other is secondary.

However, the different combinations give us six new colors. The following sounds obvious and simple and it is so it is easily remembered. Red orange comes from combining red orange, yellow orange comes from combining yellow and the orange colors, yellow green comes from combining yellow green, blue green to get blue green, blue violet gives you blue violet and red violet gives you the red violet. So while the color wheel has twelve colors in it, we now know how easily they are made. All originally from three primary colors.
