Modification of Web Parts, Web Part Zones, CSS, and Page Layout can be complex tasks. SharePoint Designer exposes these objects in task panes and dialogs so that their properties can be edited easily without needing to go into the code of the page.

In this chapter, we will modify Web Part Zone properties and Table Cells to change the layout of the default page in a Windows SharePoint services template. Then we will continue with the customizations by making some changes to Web Part Classes referenced in core.css on the server. Let's get started.
