Workflows enable you to create a business process that has steps triggered automatically based on events and conditions you specify. For example, a very simple Workflow may send an e-mail when a document status is changed from Ready for Review to Reviewed. In SharePoint Designer, Workflows are created using a Workflow Designer that allows you to pick from all of the available Workflows on the server and create complex logical branches.

In this chapter, we are going to build an intermediate Workflow that is an Project Submission process so that all Project Submissions are tracked from start to finish, and the person who has created this submission is notified of its progress.
