The second person is Dr. May C. Johnson who won September 1, 1992 became the first African American woman to blast into orbit aboard the space shuttle endeavor. Dr Johnson who is a chemical engineer, scientist, physicians, teacher and astronaut was the co investigator on a Bone Cell experiment during the eighteen team mission which was a collaborative effort between Japan and the United States. Thirdly, Ralph Bunch is the first African American to win the Nobel piece prize in 1950. He was recognized for his work in the Middle East as acting mediator for the UN Palestine commission from 1948 to 1949. Fourth on my list Curtis John Pride, the first hearing impaired African American in the National Baseball league. He is also the first hearing impaired African American to play in the World Series with the Atlanta Braves. Curtis Pride has won several awards for his achievements including the Alexander Green Bell award for outstanding lifetime achievement and the Annual Tony [Muffled] Award presented to a major league player who is overcome adversity through the attributes of spirits, determination and courage.
