Hi, my name is Mark Donovan from HomeAdditionPlus.com. Today, we are going to talk about pump up ejector system. What is a pump up ejector system? Well, a pump up ejector system is used when you are finishing a basement and you are looking to install a bathroom or a laundry room in the basement and the basement is sitting below the grid of your normal sewer or septic lines.

So, what we have here today is a pump up ejector system. It consists of a basin, and it sits about 2 ½ to 3 feet down into the ground. It holds about 30 galloons of liquids and solids. And in the center of the septic tank or the basin is a pump. A pump that pumps up the sewerage that comes from the fixtures that are in the bathroom or laundry area that drains down there. That sewerage is pumped up through this two-inch pipe and then up into your normal drain system, which then empties out into your septic tank or into your sewerage system.

In addition to the ejector output, there is an ejector vent line that goes to your normal vent stock in your plumbing system. Typical pump ejector system cost someone in the neighborhood around $500.00 to $600.00. That is for the equipment. To install somewhere around a thousand dollars, you can probably expect to pay. Couple of advices I could suggest for you is that when you go to install one of these, install them early on your in your basement remodeling project. Do not wait until the end. It is very messy, very dusty, very dirty job. It requires a lot of digging and after your cut your concrete - cutting some concrete is extremely difficult and dirty job. One final note before you also tackle this project, make sure you talk with your local building inspector. Sometimes, there are codes heading your subject design on whether or not you are allowed to pump up solids and liquids out of a pump up system.
