Hi, my name is Mark Donovan from HomeAdditionPlus.com. Today, we are going to talk about installing toilet bolt snap-on covers. Typically, to cover bolts on the toilet, just rest on top of the bolt itself and then move around. And unless they are secured in some way, they will eventually fall off or a dog will end up chewing on them and you will find your toilet exposed for long periods of time.

What we are going to do is we are going to replace the old cap cover with these new snap-on toilet bowl cap cover. That includes a snap-on washer and then a cap that snaps into place over the washer. What we will do is we will first remove the knot and install the snap-on washer below the bolt in the old washer that you would see here.

So now, I am removing the knot from the toilet bowl bolt and in the process or removing the knot, it is sometimes useful to take pliers and actually hold the bolt. The reason for this is that the bolt sets loosely in a flange underneath the toilet and it can freely spin. So in order to keep it stable while we remove the knot, we have a pair of pliers holding the bolt. So simply remove the knot from the bolt then take off the old washer and then take the snap-on cover, making sure you place it on properly. Put it over the wall, reinstall the washer and then begin to thread on and secure the knot to the bolt. Now that we have secured the knot to the toilet bowl with the snap-on cap washer sitting at the base of the toilet followed by the oval washer, we now have to slightly trim the bolt so that the cap can sit firmly and snuggly on to the washer assembled here. Remove just about eight of an inch off the top of the bolt. Now that we trimmed the bolt, we can simply put the snap cover on top, press down hard. Hear that snap? Now it is snugly in place. It will not fall off. Your dog will not be able to pull it off unless he really works on it and you are well dressed to it. All that is left now for us to do is to complete the other side of the bowl and this project is finished. It takes you probably 30 minutes to do a project like this.

So, hopefully this helped and good luck with your toilet bowl cover installation. Thanks.
