Binoculars

Helping You See the Future!

Speaker1: Laura, for me binoculars are probably the most important piece of supplementary equipment that I carry with me when I am in the bush.

Speaker2: So why the difference in sizes then?

Speaker: Well, here we have a very light weight pair that is in my day-pack around my neck almost all the time. When I am on the water, and particularly rapids traveling rivers, these are waterproof. When I am hunting and in the mountains, and I am looking for game that type of thing, the larger binoculars work beautifully, and I use these on the water, on the shore, in the bush, and in the mountains. On the water, you can encounter variety of conditions. You may be on flat water, and you are looking to see what the wave action is like up ahead of you.

When I am on the river, of course, I am checking for rapids to see if there's something that are serious or not. I may also be checking for camp sites. And while I am doing that, I am looking for dry wood. Of course, there are animals of different kinds, and lagoons, waterfall that type of thing that you wouldn't want to miss. When I am on the shore, before I am embarking my canoe, I am looking to see what the water conditions are out there, and then if they are rough, I am looking for shelter base ahead, and I maybe looking for a portage sign. When I am in the mountains and the bush, I am looking for game, I am looking for birds, I am looking for the line of least resistance if am traveling in country that has no trails, and I am always keeping an eye out for water, such as spring sites and the gleam of a stream ahead, and when I get my camp made, I can use them to light my fire.
