Look at the size of this bad boy. You think I want to be carrying these things around all day? Forget about it. When I got a lot of wood to split, at a small amount of time, my weapon of choice is a gas-powered hydraulic log splitter. This is a massive hydraulic log splitter. It has got 27 tons of power. And of course, it can handle logs about 24 inches long and up to 24, even 30 inches in diameter. It is a massive log splitter.
You know, before you get started using one of these hydraulic log splitters and really, this is true at any tool. Just stop and get out the owners manual and read the safety instructions. The more complicated the tool, the more things that can go wrong, and the more seriously you can probably get injured.
The first thing we got to do is turn the engine on, because that is what gives the power to the hydraulic pump. Now, we got it coming to pick up a log. Lift the log up. Put it against the stock, and then turn the hydraulic jack on. Tell me, that is not sweet.
Remember what I said earlier about having to lift these big things and carrying them over, and set them all on the log splitter? That is crazy, too much hard work. With this particular hydraulic log splitter, guess what? You can tilt it up. Check that out. And now, instead of the piston going sideways, it goes up and down. You just roll one of your logs over in the position, put it here, turn that engine on, hit the valve, and away you go.
