Many of you are probably getting ready to maybe build a new house perhaps build a new room edition a large one. Well, let me tell you the most important part of the entire project are the plans and specifications. Now, let us talk about what makes a really good set of plans and if you do not have one how you might find one.

Well, the things I like to see on blueprints, I like to see really crisp drawings that have a lot of notes on it and what we will call a lot of details and this are basically miniature drawings of things that show the builder exactly what is supposed to do at certain parts of the job.

Another thing that you want to look for are what we call interior elevations. These are often pictures of like the insides of bathrooms or kitchens that show the builder and the carpenters exactly where things are going to go, and also what is really important are the exterior elevations so that everybody knows what the outside of the plan and the structure is going to look like.

And do not forget the specifications they are very, very important. Specifications are generally written notes that show up at the end of the plan and there are things that—you know notes that are just too much, that are too—there are things that you will not find or they would jumble up on the actual blueprint drawing themselves. It is just really a good way to explain to the plumber, the electrician the things that are going to go on.

Now, finally, one other note I want to show you, make sure that the electrical plan that shows the outlets and switches are on. Its own separate little plan, it is very, very important.
