Meghan: Wine storage brings the beauty, charm and character of the wine country to your home and if chosen correctly can also be quite functional. I am hitting the road, searching for answers, and finding great design. It is a quest of beauty, function and of course inspiration.

Wine storage comes in four main types, wine racks, wine refrigerators, wine cabinets, and wine cellars. And to find out where to start when choosing between them? I asked Tony Wilke the VP of operations at Wine Cellar Innovations what is the first thing you should consider.

Tony: First of all they have to decide how far along they are in the wine collecting phase as it were. And then, kind of add to it as your collection grows.

Meghan: Sounds pretty easy. Get storage big enough for your collection, but as Tony continue talking I quickly realized there were many considerations. So I have broken down who is right for each type of wine storage.

Wine racks are the best wine storage for you if, you do not want to spend too much money, do not have much space, have a small to medium size wine collection, might move in the next few years, plan on drinking your wine within the next three to five years and do not mind if your wine is not refrigerated at the proper temperature. Now keep in mind that wine racks can get pretty elaborate if you want a big setup.

Tony: With wine racks you know you can build it into something custom wine cellar by adding onto them. But if you want to maximize this utilization of the room you are going to want to use custom in order to get the maximum storage available.

Meghan: But even if you go custom wine racks would not keep your wine at its peak which leads us to the next category of wine storage, wine refrigerators.

Wine refrigerators are the right type of wine storage for you if, you want to spend a moderate amount of money, have a small to medium size wine collection, have space for a refrigerator in your kitchen or bar and want your wine to stay at the perfect temperature.

Of course, if you already have a wine refrigerator that looks like a fine piece of furniture then a wine cabinet might be your best choice.

A wine cabinet is the right type of wine storage for you if, you want to spend a moderate amount of money, have limited space, have a small to medium size wine collection, wants your wine to be displayed in your kitchen, basement or an entertaining area of your home and might move in the next few years.

Tony: And you could move with it. In the event that you do move, most of our clientele appear to move every four, five or six years as they go up the professional ladder this is something they could take with them whereas a custom wine room it is fine about space.

Meghan: But if you are really into wine that custom wine cellar might be calling your name. a custom wine cellar is your best wine storage option if, you do not mind making a large investment when it comes to wine storage, have a big wine collection, have the space to dedicate a room with your room, wants to keep your wine in a optimum condition, do not plan moving or think a wine cellar will add to the value of your home and of course you want to add that wow factor to your house.

Tony: A large wine cellar really adds to the ambiance of any home.

Meghan: And that is probably an understatement. But honestly all of the wine storage options are beautiful and with so many different types available finding a wide storage that fits your needs should be easy.
