Are there any quality AGM/SLA Manufacturers left?

I bought a used CyberPower PR750LCD on Craigslist (The batteries were supposed to be good but you know how that goes )

I know the UPS works because I pulled two batteries from other units and tested it with them

Anyway are there any manufacturers left that make quality SLA/AGM batteries? My unit needs two 12V 7AH batteries

I have been a fan of Yuasa or CSB for years but I can't seem to find any sources of newer ones (Date code within a year or two) Although I only looked at Amazon and eBay so I am probably missing a lot of distributors of them

If it has to be another brand what are the good ones and the "names" to avoid?

Also I intend to reuse the cables which is a 60A fuse that connects both batteries together and a Anderson Power Pole (Or alteast it looks like one) that goes to the UPS

Thanks!

Yuasa batteries are the best "bang for the buck" SLA batteries currently available.

As for buying batteries I have used batteries.com in the. Past but I don’t endorse them.

We use Panasonic SLA batteries in our workplace and have no problems with their price or quality.

Yuasa batteries are good and in our area tend to be used more for small vehicles and Panasonic are found more in emergency lighting and other stand-by uses.

Where do you get Panasonic SLA batteries? What would be the right part/model number for a 12V 7.2 or 7AH battery.

I have been using CSB brand SLA batteries for years, I have one from 2010 that still holds most of the original charge in a APC 500VA UPS.

So CSB is no longer recommended? I only bought them because at the time they were cheap and NOT made in China

CSB are OEM in some devices we use but Panasonic are stocked locally and always work for us.

For the price of that Panasonic battery.... I'd expect it to be a good performer.

Exclamation

OK so I found 2 "New" CSB GP1272 anyway I got them and they look like they were pulled and not new (The date code is from 2016 on both) one has F1 and the other has F2 terminals (Not really a problem as the F2 will fit on an F1 terminal) anyway one reads 12.43 and the other is 12.62 is there a way to equalize and charge them before I put them into use? I have a small 4A battery charger/maintainer and a DMM and several loads (Car head/marker lamps) that I can use

Anyway the seller already said keep them and gave me my money back.

Also why does one say 12V 7.2Ah and the other says 12V 28W?

No need to equalize them.
They will equalize on charge since you are using them in series.

I don't recall ever seeing the wattage on a battery instead of the amperage.
Obviously they are the same battery aside from the terminals.

OK I got them installed and the UPS software is reporting 82% and is charging the batteries
I will let you know how a load test goes

This UPS is fancy (It is a sine-wave business class unit) it has a setting in the software to initiate a battery test that will actually drain the batteries until they are almost dead I believe 20% or so the software calls it "Runtime Calibration")

Most of the cheaper consumer UPSs out there the only way to do a load test is to unplug it or turn off the breaker to it

Thanks Pete and GregH

PS: I am Peter also

All is well the batteries lasted 42 Minutes with a 100 Watt (0.8A) load. The computer was idle and not doing any heavy work
I have my monitor computer Router and cable modem on the battery backup
Anyway for those interested the computer is a custom built from 2014

Intel Core i7-4790K
16GB DDR 3
GA-Z97X-UD3H
Geforce GT530
Toshiba 2TB and a Toshiba 3TB 7200RPM HDD
Micron (Crucial) 128GB M.2 SSD as the boot drive with Windows 10 Pro
BenQ GL2760H

PS the batteries take about 10HRS to fully charge
