A/C tripping breaker

I have a portable A/C Fedders.
Every time the compressor kicks in, the breaker gets tripped.

Sounds like a short somewhere...any ideas?

Are you running this on a dedicated circuit?
What's the amp draw rating on the unit compared to what it's plugged into?
Did it ever work before where it's plugged in now?

Wink

With Matt here. How big is the unit? Whats the wire in the wall #10 #12 or #14?? can be an old breaker. You have to amp out the unit and go from there.
